It all starts with clay
Clay preparation: The first step in making a ceramic mug is to prepare the clay, which involves mixing the clay with water to create a workable consistency.
Shape it
Molding is a process we use to shape raw materials into a desired form. In the case of ceramic mugs.
Make it durable
After we mold the clay into the desired shape, we dry it to remove any excess moisture. Once the clay is dry, it is placed in a kiln and fired at a low temperature. The heat from the kiln causes the clay to harden and become more durable.
Biscuit firing is an essential step in the production of ceramics, as it gives the clay strength and makes it less brittle. It also prepares the clay for the next step in the production process, which is glazing.
The glaze firing is a process used in the production of ceramics. It refers to the firing of the glazed ceramic piece at a high temperature (around 1280°C) to fix the glaze to the piece's surface.
After we glazed the ceramic piece, we placed the mugs in a kiln and fired them at a high temperature. The heat from the kiln causes the glaze to melt and bond to the piece's surface. This process is also known as "glost firing."
The glaze firing is an essential step in the production of ceramics, as it gives the glazed surface a glossy finish and makes it more resistant to wear and tear. It also allows for a wide range of colors and finishes.
Make it personal
First, we design and print our decal onto the decal paper using an inkjet printer. We cut out the decal and soak it in water until it is fully saturated. Carefully slide the decal onto the mug and smooth out any air bubbles. We let the decal dry, then brush a thin layer of transparent glaze over it. Finally, bake the mug in a kiln or oven to set the glaze and make the decal permanent.
